album review: african redemption (2014)
The album starts with a inspiring mysterious intro 'Africa Redemption intro', some beautiful nyanbinghi drums and a strong message. We are glad to hear some more Pressure Busspipe works and he takes us right away. Chronixx joined Pressure Busspipe for the title track 'Africa Redemption'. A winning combination for sure. A militant tune which lives up to it's title. Pressure and Chronixx directly telling yuh what this album is all about. Sweet trumpets and typical Pressure vocals introduce the 3rd track of the album 'Freedom Fighters'. Do we hear a bit of Sizzla Kalonji in this tune? This riddim brings out the best in Pressure and this tune definitely deserves a PUUULL UUUP!!... 'Where I'm from' is a chune about Pressure's home the Virgin Islands. Old skool 80s/90s reggae/dancehall tune. Pressure paying his respects to the early dancehall days. 'Lead I home' is a serious one. a Deep tune coming with some sensitive piano touch... again a militant tune. "Babylon you make a mockery of my culture you thief, Babylon you too greedy You a vulture you see".
A different atmosphere is created with the next chune called 'Belly Full'. Classy drums and uplifting message! The next is truly Massive! none other than Damian Marley and Tarrus Riley joined Pressure for 'Mental Disturbance'. Oooh what a blessing it would be to see this one live once... the track is closed by some powerful DUB and it proves the diversity of Pressure Busspipe. 'Dear Mama' and 'Parents' is an obvious hommage to all father's and mother's worldwide. Pressure is even bringing us some hip-hop/RnB with 'I'm Greatful'. A joyful tune but Pressure can do way better. 'My herbs Interlude' introduces 'My Herbs' a collabo alongside Jah Mason. Again a winning combination, powerful tune!! Of Course a Ganja tune couldn't be absent on this Africa Redemption album. 'Just like dat' brings a likkle lovers rock to this album.
A tribute to the ladies, crucial thing! 'Right Love' continues on that vibe and is accompanied by some sweet saxophone play. (Dean Frasier style). 'Love me so' is more up tempo and again a Lovers tune. 'Many Moods' once more brings out the sweet reggae vibe and the album is closed by the positive and uplifting 'Feeling Fine' ..."Im feeling fine, so i'm gonna have a nice time, in the lovely caribbean sunshine, ain't nuthin gonna stress my mind"... This tune is the instrumental highlight in our humble opinion, what a sweet riddim this is... piano, panpipes a real treat!

conclusion:
We've lost count concerning big tunes delivered by this talented vocalist Pressure Busspipe. This album has a different touch then 'the Sound' but has Pressure Busspipe written all over it. Impressive collabo's with Damian Marley, Tarrus Riley, Chronixx and Jah Mason gave this a album a nice extra and Pressure again proves to be one the most promising artists out there. He can do a lot of things with his powerful voice and we for sure like the fact that he is always representing his home the Virgin Island and Africa. 'A man without his past is like a tree without it's roots'. Consider this a cry-out to all promoters and bookers in the Netherlands. Please bring us some Pressure Busspipe, this artist definitely deserves more exposure. Keep 'em coming Mr. Busspipe!!
