album review:
The first tune of the album is the title track 'First Delivery' an uplifting positive tune about the road Censi Rock had to trod along to get to his first album. A very positive vibe which is easily continued by the next tune 'Dreadlocks'. A strong uptempo riddim with fine baselines and drums coming with a true message about the wrong image people can have about dreadlocks and people having dem. Of course this album has some ganja tunes and one of the highlights of this album for sure is 'Haffi Bun'. A winner combo with Mr. Patze(NL). This tune is setting the standard for the rest of the album. This tune makes us Irie everytime we play it! 'Down inna the Ghetto' is a militant tune about Ghetto Life in general and this riddim should definitely get some more artists to perform on it. (Maybe they already have?). Fine guitars form the intro for the next tune 'No War', this baseline got us right away. A sweet roots tune you simply cannot dislike. This tune proves the vocal qualities of Censi Rock for sure and again is carried by an impressive roots riddim. Another talented Dutch vocalist 'Joggo' joined Censi Rock for 'Now we meet again'. Some Rub-a-Dub style is added to the album with the tune 'Rock and come in' Censi Rock is waving a positive banner and this tune will get the massive to move for sure. Jamaican legend Sylford Walker teamed up with Censi Rock for 'Roll up'. The next Ganja tune on the album and what a vibe. Sylford Walker bringing some pure roots vocals and we definitely like the trumpets. Listen to Sylford and Censi 'Herb is the healing of the nation' ! 'Baby don't Cry' comes with some outstanding instrumental play. The riddims on this album really take the album to a good musical level. 'Mama' easily lives up to the expectations set by the first tunes of the album. Strong baselines again. 'Confronted' is the last collabo of the album with Jamaican reggae vocalist Ray Darwin and 'Earth Cries' is a beautiful tribute to mother nature and about the people who have to have more respect for the world we are living in. Outstanding trumpets (Gotta love the trumpets), uptempo riddim and good vocals. Censi Rock is coming at ya! 'Weh dem a do' is taking us to the end of the album and we are definitely not done listening yet. A proper riddim again. The producers really delivered some wicked reggae music with this release. 'What's life' representing Ska music on the 'First Delivery' album. A party tune which made us wanna start the album all over again. Censi Rock telling yuh to fulljoy life every way you can!
Conclusion:
We are impressed by another quality roots reggae album from Dutch soil. Reggae music going globally these days for sure. Powerful, conscious, high quality riddims, sweet vocals, great variety of instruments used and uplifting messages. This album definitely deserves some credits and Censi Rock is making a name for himself as far as we are concerned... Very nice work by Mr. Patze (Area 026 Music) on the riddims we must say. Big up Star and keep 'em coming! Artist: Censi Rock Album: First Delivery Produced by: Mr. Patze for Area 026 Music Executive Producer: M.
